Kingdom Death Lantern Pin-Up

Clearly my favorite one among the "old' KD pin-ups. Probably because of her curves and appealing pose. Moreover the lanterns are really important in KDM and the light is something which should be cherished by survivors. I envisioned her in some catacombs stairs, and what you can see here is one of my first scenery. It is far from being perfect, but I did it for myself and tried different things with this miniature, such as the OSL or a darker and more complex skin tone. I'm quite satisfied with what I've done considering my painting level at that time (which hopefully should be a little bit better now, but it was not so long ago). I would now be more careful with the thickness of my paint as it is way too thick. I also tried some freehands on the stockings. The column was made with fimo gently curved before the baking phase. I worked with the airbrush for the scenery itself, and you can see that it was a quick job. I wanted to have some orange translucent light at the top of the candles but was only partially succesful. At the end of the day I still think she's decent... or indecent... You never know with KDM pin-ups ;)

Clairement une de mes pin-ups préférées issues de Kingdom Death Monster, probablement du fait de ses courbes et de sa pose qui semble inviter le spectateur. De plus les lanternes sont un élément central de KDM et devraient être chéries par tout survivant. Je l'imaginais dans les escaliers de catacombes et ce que vous voyez là est mon premier diorama (très humble évidemment). C'est loin d'être parfait mais je l'ai fait pour moi et j'ai testé pas mal de nouvelles choses avec cette figurine, depuis l'OSL jusqu'à une teinte de peau plus sombre et profonde. J'ai aussi tenté un petit freehand sur les bas de la pin-up. Je suis content de ce que j'ai fait, même si j'ai fait pas mal d'erreurs, comme ma peinture beaucoup trop épaisse sur la figurine. La colonne a été réalisée en fimo tordue délicatement avant la cuisson. J'ai travaillé le décor à l'aérographe, et on peut voir que je n'y ai pas passé trop de temps. J'ai tenté de donner un effet orange translucide aux bougies mais n'ait réussi qu'à moitié. Je suis au final content du résultat.

Kingdom Death Rawhide Dame Pinup

I'm usually not a fan of "sexy" miniatures, but I have to say it's different for Kingdom Death, probably because of the horror fantasy flavour which surrounds these models. Moreover, I have to admit that I like the curves they all have. They are so  "over-the-top" that I can't help but loving them. If I remember well, the Rawhide Dame was my first KDM painted miniature (even if they are not really part of this universe) and probably my first OSL trial. The base was made in a really simple way with some paste I shaped as a little mount. Just a skull to give some depth to the scene and here it is... The lights and shadows are really simple and quite messy, but it was ok at that time for me. The painting is also too thick, but anyway. The sword was in my head made of bone, and I tried quite simply to represent it.

Je ne suis généralement pas très fan des figurines sexy, mais je dois dire que c'est différent pour Kingdom Death, probablement du fait de l'ambiance de fantaisie et d'horreur qui entourent ces modèles. De plus, je dois admettre que j'aime les courbes qu'elles ont. Elles sont tellement exagérées que je ne peux m'empêcher de les aimer. Si je me souviens bien, la Rawhide Dame a été la première figurine KDM que j'ai peinte (même si elles ne font pas vraiment partie de l'univers) et probablement ma première tentative d'OSL. La base a été faite très simplement avec de la pâte que j'ai mis en forme de petit mont. Juste un crâne pour donner un peu de profondeur à la scène et voilà... Les lumières et les ombres sont vraiment simples et un mal faites, mais ça me convenait à ce moment là. La peinture est trop épaisse, mais tant pis. L'épée me semblait être faite d'os, et j'ai essayé de la représenter assez simplement.
